Great post. I have a 10-year old whose favorite adjective to describe everything he touches is “amazing.” I’m trying to convey the virtue of humility, so far without much success. I agree that self-confidence is a wonderful thing, and something I sorely lacked at his age, but everything in moderation…another concept he seems not to have an interest in!

I have that hope also. I do notice that there are some things my son tries and decides “it’s just not for me” so perhaps there will be a little self-realization along the way (so we don’t have to be the bad guys ALL the time).

Great post! And totally relatable for me, only I’m dealing w/the same in my 4 year old! And I know he’s ALOT younger than your Luke but just like you, I am already worried about being somewhat honest to prepare him for when he does get a little older. It’s kinda nice knowing we’re not alone – who knows, maybe this is just a phase & it will level out all on its own
