The Mountain Moves you at Camelback Lodge.
We decided to switch up our summer vaca MO this year from the customary week away, to a bucket list of quick trips peppered through the summer and fall for a seasonal spread of family fun. This fit well with our work and camp schedules, and gave us a flavor of special family adventures waiting for us just a short drive from the beaches of NJ to the mountains of PA. How lucky are we?
Camelback Lodge and Aquatopia, the Northeast’s Largest Indoor Waterpark, are new additions to Camelbeach and Camelback Ski destinations – and they’ve made all the difference for our recent visit. Having the conveniences of an overnight suite, access to both Aquatopia and Camelbeach with our 2 day stay, entertainment and multiple dining options was just the kind of easy, breezy adventure we were looking for. I imagine the same will be true for the winter skiing experience.
Day 1: Aquatopia
I had a sneak peek of Aquatopia during their media opening this Spring, but it was a grand and exciting entrance for my family and friends walking in to this water wonderland to stay and play. Where to head first?
The thing is, there’s something for everyone. Hint: there’s also a map to help you find your treasure.
It didn’t take long for us to find the fun button and literally never want to leave….
…. and depending on the age range of your family, you could head in a couple different directions – but a little planning goes a long way when you’ve got 2 water parks to see. For example, reserve your Cabana 48 hours in advance. And if you have little’s at Aquatopia, here are some great amenities:
- Indoor private Cabanas with seating for up to 8
- Oversize pool towels
- TV and Ceiling fan for a cooler space
- Host to bring food and refreshments
- Shallow play at Penguin Play Bay and small-size slides at Kartrite’s Quest
- Lifeguards are literally EVERYWHERE!
Adults: Do not miss a chance to swim up to the Flyboys Pool Bar for a cocktail or two with a full view of the Aquatopia grounds. Such a treat.
It was hours before we were able to see every nook and cranny of our Aquatopia adventure including the Wave Pool, Paradise Plunge and Spa Lagoon. We voted Venus Slydetrap as our favorite feature of the day – check her out below – with the Lost River (nothing lazy about it) at a close 2nd.
We hadn’t even gotten to the indoor Arcadia adventures with laser tag, mini-golf, rock wall, K2 climb obstacle course, and mega arcade before hunger took over. By 7pm we were ready to eat, and the dining at the Lodge’s Hemispheres did not disappoint.
Day 2 We hit up one of our favorite spots, a cozy cabana at the base of Pharoah’s Phortress for our breaks in the shade and a worthwhile investment when you’re all in for full day of play. While this is a great shady spot to lunch, there’s also a large and accommodating picnic area where you can bring coolers with your own packed lunch for the day, making it easy to have fun on a budget too.
Kissing the Camel is always a must.
Then off we went on our Camelbeach adventure.
We really loved getting to know Camelback Lodge and Aquatopia this summer. We’ll most certainly back back. If you’ve ever been and you ❤ Aquatopia too, help them become the #1 ranked Indoor Waterpark on USA TODAYS 10 Best Indoor Waterparks list! http://goo.gl/UvrYVd
(You can vote every day through the end of August!)
