To cap off our recent family fun at Camelbeach Mountain Waterpark, the fine folks at Desaki on Rt 611 in Swiftwater, PA hosted us for an evening that was way more than just dining. If I could describe our experience at Desaki in a couple of words it would be, “Watch this”…
It doesn’t seem right not to let our astounding, personal Hibachi Chef / Entertainer of the Year shine in this review of Desaki. His preparation of the food alone could steal the show, but his magic flaming hat and magnificent comedic timing in front of our not so little party of 12 audience took center stage and capped off our day of fun at Camelbeach.
We got a personal tour of Desaki’s landscaped grounds, built by owner and family-man Vincent Trapasso, as a local night out for families in the area and destination hot spot for tourists. His primary objective, “keep the kids happy”, is something they do very well with events like face painting, balloonists, xbox stations, and even rickshaw rides while you’re waiting for your table. He showed us his motivation, his own family, who are just as part of his business as he is.
On any given night, you’ll be warmly greeted at the door and may discover face-painters, balloonists and other entertainment. We were lucky to arrive on such a night and the kids reaped the benefits. We thank Desaki for hosting us so warmly – but we could tell that this is just how they roll on any given night with all families on the hunt for a delicious meal and more fun family memories.
After dinner, we make our way to the Chateau Resort and Conference Center, nestled conveniently at the base of Camelback Mountain for our overnight stay.
The grounds were landscaped with waterfall features, multi-level decks and seating space to take in the grand and sweeping views of the Pocono Mountains, and Camelback Beach and Camelback Ski Resort activity. Walking the property with book in hand in search for a cozy nook (while my family slept soundly from our active day at Camelbeach) I imagined a beautiful wedding or large event as the perfect complement to this scenic and very zen outdoor space.
Family activities, even for a rainy day, include spa services, indoor pool with whirlpool/jacuzzi, dry sauna, fully equipped fitness room, game room where the kids could be entertained for hours. Our room was the double on-suite with a spiral staircase to a loft space complete with many amenities. There was no fighting the boys for sleeping here. It was their absolute pleasure to fully unpack their bags hoping our brief overnight would morph into a week’s stay in their new high-rise digs.
The convenience to Camelback and local fun things to do capped off our fun at this family friendly destination. Next time you’re here – grab your best read and get cozy. You’ll love how it makes you feel.
